Sustainability Advisor
Are you passionate about climate change and nature? Do you enjoy proactively getting out into communities and talking to people?
Then you could be the perfect person to join our innovative Green Team as a Sustainability Advisor.
With your enthusiastic attitude and great communications skills, you’ll build strong relationships with our communities and local businesses as you offer them guidance and support to adopt more sustainable lifestyles and working practices.
Taking to the streets of the borough, you’ll visit people’s homes, go to businesses and regularly attend events to raise interest in the team’s services, as you give our residents and companies free advice and tailored support for cutting their carbon footprints.
This includes being trained to undertake home energy and garden surveys to help people living in the borough to understand how they can save money and cut carbon by using less energy at home and what they can do in their gardens to encourage our native plants and wildlife to flourish.
And we’ll also give you the skills to help our local businesses grow greener too as you support them to complete free audits focused on reducing energy use, cutting waste, sourcing environmentally friendly products and sustainable travel.
Our Green Team was one of the first of its kind to be created by a council and this is a rare opportunity to join a dedicated team of specialists making a real difference to tackle the climate and ecological emergency.
**We have full and part-time roles available. Please let us know what hours you are interested in as part of your application.**
If you would like to discuss any aspects of the role in more detail then please get in touch with Florence Baxter or Sam Taylor on GreenTeam@basinsgtoke.gov.uk
