Are you a great problem solver who thrives working outdoors and wants to help residents feel safer? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Community Safety Patrolling Officer (CSPO).

This is your chance to play a key role in making Basingstoke and Deane a safer, cleaner, and more welcoming place to live and work.

What you will do:

As a CSPO, you’ll help reduce antisocial behaviour and environmental crime by:

  • Carrying out high-visibility patrols across the borough to reassure the public
  • Engaging with residents, businesses, and local organisations to build community confidence
  • Challenging and addressing unacceptable behaviour in a firm but fair manner
  • Supporting and working alongside the police and other partners to tackle local issues
  • Acting as an ambassador for the council and police

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Is confident, approachable, and comfortable engaging with people from all walks of life
  • Can think on their feet and use initiative to solve problems in dynamic situations
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is resilient and able to remain calm and professional in challenging circumstances

Please note this post requires shift work, including regular unsocial hours and the ability to conduct patrols on foot and by bicycle in all weathers.

A clear DBS check and Level 2 Non-Police Personnel Vetting will be required before the successful candidate begins employment. For information on vetting standards visit: Vetting authorised professional practice

The candidate will be required to meet Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) standards.
